Rory has grown up in Harrogate, spending the last 33 years exploring every nook and cranny. From running around Brimham Rocks as a child to relaxing at the Turkish bath as a much more mature adult. The town may have changed in many ways over the previous thirty years but so much has remained attached to the history the town was built on

Not only has Rory lived in Harrogate his whole life, he has spent half of it working in the hospitality scene. Starting off at a hotel slap bang in the middle of the town, then onto working at Rudding Park Hotel and now running Cold Bath Brewing Co. He has been able to see the hospitality sector grow and change in many ways. He thought creating a deck of cards to really showcase some of Harrogate’s finest establishments would be the best way to promote what Harrogate has to offer.

The idea behind the "When In Harrogate" playing cards came about after repeatedly getting asked about places worth visiting in town and Rory noticed there was a fairly even amount of places that were regularly suggested. All of the local indie venues managed to make up a single suit of each category suggested and Rory began working on the deck.

Rather than just having a few names and images on the cards we wanted to make them into everyone’s pocket sized tour guide and get the most useful information about the individual venues to the explorers hands.
